![]() The combat is brutally natural and combo-based, but you can just mash buttons through most of the smaller tussles. Several lesser gods stand between him and his goal, but usually not for long. Kratos is on a mission that evolved from the earlier games: to kill Zeus, the king of the gods. It's a visual spectacle, with some levels played on the bodies of skyscraper-size Titans, and others scattered around between Olympia and the depths of Hades. The nut graph: "God of War III" plays a lot like the first two games in the series, which were originally released for the PlayStation 2 (they have since been rereleased with enhanced graphics for the PS3, but nowhere near the level of the latest game). What we're telling: Thank goodness for the puzzles, so the merciless killing machine can show off his nerd moxie. What they're selling: From Sony - "Armed with double-chained blades and an array of new weapons and magic, Kratos must take on mythology's darkest creatures while solving intricate puzzles throughout his merciless quest to destroy Olympus." In short, Kratos is the crabbiest hero in video game history, but fortunatelyfor him he is loaded with weapons and attacked at every turn. Imagine a pro wrestler, really mad about something, but without the social conventions that keep him from killing everyone in sight.
